Top 3 Ways To Jump Start Your Workout!
Posted on August 31st, 2010
We all get in an exercise rut. The average person sticks to their exercise program for about three weeks at a time. Remember that as you age, taking a week off from exercise can derail you for months. Take a month off from exercise it can take you up to three months to get things back on track. So what can you do to jump start things once you’ve fallen off the wagon?
- Schedule your workouts - You have to put your exercise back into your schedule. Perhaps it was there before and things crept in or maybe you stopped scheduling exercise time. Whatever the reason, making it a priority in your planner, Blackberry, or whatever system you use will force you to get back in the saddle.
- Re-evaluate your nutrition - One of the biggest culprits to an exercise rut is poor nutrition. If you lack energy to workout, fueling up with the right foods make all the difference in your performance and hence your workouts! My favorite food fuelers (new word) are bowl of cereal, Think Thin Bars, or homemade trail mix.
- Go to sleep - Consistent bedtimes are not just for our kids. We need to be wise about getting adequate sleep. The average person needs between 7-9 hours of sleep every night. If you’re trying to lose weight, need more energy, or just want to feel better, get your rest - on a regular basis!
