3 Tips To Prevent Exercise Burn-Out!
Posted on April 14th, 2011

By the time you reach your “fabulous 40s” (Yeah, Baby!), you’ve been there-done-that in the exercise world. Maybe you started with step classes and then worked onto some circuit weight machines. You may find yourself bored with the next new thing or dread going to the gym and navigating your way through egos, gym tourists, or “cardio-holics.” [new word] You may be experiencing exercise burn-out and it’s more common than you may think.
Keeping the love alive with exercise (although this can probably work in your love-life too) takes work. Here are 3 things you can
do today to add some spice into your workouts and avoid burn-out,1. Take a dance class - Dancing with the Stars is great inspiration (go Jennifer Grey!). Instead of your go-to group exercise class sign-up for some different programs like boot camp or classes at your local studio for jazz, ballet, or salsa dancing lessons.
2. Change the way you lift weight - using machines alone can stall your progress and contribute to burn- out. Add more free weights, bands, and my favorite, TRX.
3. Build some incentives into your workout - one my favorite incentives is a deep tissue massage every 4-6 weeks massage is a wonderful way to add healing touch, stress relief, and needed pampering to improve overall well-being.
