What are Fitness Circles?

Designed by fitness expert Valerie Merriweather, fitness circles create an environment for like-minded, busy women to come together to workout.  A variety of training methods and strategies are used to help you improve your fitness level, increase your confidence during your workouts, and address the roadblocks (e.g. mental, emotional) that have an impact on your long-term results.

What Happens at a Fitness Circle?

Participants are placed in groups based on shared interest, fitness levels, and overall goals. Each participant is given a questionnaire prior to attending the FC and this information is used for group placement and ongoing support.  Each group has a unique goal; for example, one group can have accountability as their number one goal and the other can have a life stage goal in mind (e.g. new mom workouts, busy mom programs).

How fit do I have to be to join a Fitness Circle?

This is a come-as-you-are group. There are no fitness requirements other than a willingness to work hard, pace yourself, and improve your fitness. A general questionnaire will be given to determine the best FC for you. Our goal is to make sure you are placed in a Fitness Circle that meets your needs.  

How Many Participants are in a fitness circle?

Groups range from 3-5 persons. The idea of the FC is to keep each group small to increase participation, improve overall fitness level, and allow participants to establish relationships.  

How Long is Each Fitness Circle program?

Fitness Circles meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 4 weeks for 45 minutes each session. The last 10 minutes are spent with an interactive discussion discussing topics like healthy lifestyle tips, nutrition tune-ups, and mindset coaching. We offer rolling enrollment so if you join after an FC starts you can continue until your session is complete.  

Where are Fitness Circles Held?

Fitness Circles are held at two Chapel Hill locations, indoor and outdoor.  You will have the choice of either location based on your needs and group request. Note, due to weather conditions some groups will be held indoors only.
